Answer:

It is the posterior -most part of the brain and continuous with the spinal cord .It controls involuntary function of visceral organ through a number of centres like Cardiac Centre (Heartbeat) ,respiratory Centre (breathing) , salivary Centre (secretion of saliva) etc. It also has the reflex Centre to control coughing and sneezing, vomiting, urinating, defaceation, blood pressure ,swallowing of food, peristalsis etc.
