magnets are made up of the magnetic substance. Magnets have certain important properties. They are:
Attractive Property – Magnet attracts ferromagnetic materials like iron, cobalt, and nickel.
Repulsive Properties – Like magnetic poles repel each other and unlike magnetic poles attract each other.
Directive Property – A freely suspended magnet always points in a north-south direction.

Hello Buddy!!
Answer :
They are not real but a way of representing the magnetic field.
They form at a point and grow outwards as complete loops. When the field dies they shrink to a point and vanish - this means they are always complete loops.
We say the direction of the field line is the direction of the force there would be on an isolated North Pole. (This is analagous to the way electric fields are defined).
The field lines themselves behave as follows- they act as though they repel each other sideways. They try to contract and reduce their length. They never cross or meet.
When two different fields are superimposed, the resulting fie;d is the vector sum of the two fields at each point in space.
