Membrane biogenesis is the process which involves the synthesis of cell membrane with the help of proteins and lipids. Endoplasmic reticulum is responsible for the synthesis of these membranes. Membranes synthesised by this process of membrane biogenesis help in dividing the cell into structural and functional compartments.
