Membrane biogenesis is the process by which cell membrane is made by the Endoplasmic reticulum. Cell membrane is made up of proteins and lipids.
Endoplasmic reticulum is after types so are the products of two types.
- Rough Endoplasmic reticulum : Rough Endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes embed into its wall and hence known as Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum. With the help of these ribosomes of Endoplasmic reticulum is associated with Protein synthesis.
- Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum : Smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not have ribosomes and is found loosely arranged in the cytoplasm and hence is known as smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum is associated with lipid synthesis.
Both the types together work together and form the cell membrane by dividing the cells into the structural and functional components.

Answer:
Membrane biogenesis is the process of formation of the biological membrane. It involves the synthesis of cell membranes with the help of proteins and lipids. Endoplasmic Reticulum is responsible for membrane biogenesis. Membranes which as synthesized help in dividing the cell into structural and functional components.
