Gregor Mendel, through his work on pea plants, discovered the fundamental laws of Inheritance. He deduce that genes come in pairs and are inherited as distinct units , one from each parent.Mendel's law like  follow as,
  1. The law of segregation:    Each inherited trait is defined by a gene pair . Parental genes are randomly separeted to the sex cells so that sex cell contains only one gene of pair.
2.The law of independent Assortment:  Genes for different traits are sorted separately from one another so that the inheritance of one trait is not dependent on the inheritance of another.
3.The law of Dominance:  An organism with alternate forms of  a gene will express the form that is dominant.

The Mendel's laws of inheritance are as follows:

Explanation:

  • Law of segregation suggests that individuals possess 2 alleles and a parent passed only one allele to the offspring.
  • Law of independent assortment suggests that the inheritance of 1 pair of gene is independent of inheritance of other.
  • Law of dominance suggests that if the organism is hetrozygous, one allele will be dominant over the other and will mask the effect of recessive allele.
