According to Newland's law of octaves, when elements are arranged by increasing atomic mass, the properties of every eighteth element starting from any element are a repeatation of the properties of the starting element.

Newlands arranged all the known 56 elements in an increasing order of their atomic masses. He found that every 8th element had properties similar to that of the first.
Therefore, Newlands Law of Octaves states that, "When the elements are arranged in an increasing order of their atomic masses, the properties of the 8th element are similar to the first.
But, after Calcium (Ca), every 8th element did not posses properties similar to that of the first. So, it was discarded.
