Menstruation is the flow of blood from the birth canal(vagina) along with ovum(female germ cell). It occurs when the think walld of blood vessels in the uterus breaks down. This breaking down of Endometrium(Uterine wall), because:

  • Every month, Uterus in females prepares itself for implantation of the Embryo(zygote when divided).
  • But when there is no availibility of male gamete(sperm), there is then, no use of such thick walls composed of blood vessels.
  • Thus, then the Endometrium breaks down and flows along vagina along with the unfertilised egg cell in form of blood.
