What is ment by acid rain?


samsana: rainfall made so acidic by atmospheric pollution that it causes environmental harm, chiefly to forests and lakes. The main cause is the industrial burning of coal and other fossil fuels, the waste gases from which contain sulphur and nitrogen oxides which combine with atmospheric water to form acids.

Acid rain is a rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic meaning that it possesses elevated levels of hydrogen ions(low pH).It can have harmful effect on plants,aquatic animals and infrastructure.acid rain is caused by emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide which reacts with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids.
