India is a democracy and so as the late POTUS Lincoln had rightly said, it is the “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Corruption on the other hand is something which is totally unwarranted and defeats the whole purpose of democracy. In a democracy, interest and welfare of the people is of paramount importance but the corruption makes it impossible for people to reap the benefits of the seeds they sow.The politicians and corrupt government officials, who are inebriated with power, try and take all the benefits of the taxpayers’ money and contain them.Corruption in a government can either be:of politicians; orof the government servants.Former is a more serious threat compared to that of the latter.
