Mercy is the forgiveness shown towards the people.

Shakespeare's Heroine Portia , delivers a famous "Quality of mercy " in the trail scene in the Merchant of Venice.

The quality of mercy is not forced. It comes from heaven like gentle rain. It blesses the who show it as well as receive it , becoming twice blessed.

It stands above the sceptre and attribute of god itself.

Every injustice person /people pray for mercy . If we were to receive strict justice from god , all would be condemned to hell. God himself teaches to show mercy on people.

Sorry , if i have missed out anything as i typed without looking into textbook.
