The growth of plants occurs only in certain specific region .this is because the dividing tissue ,also known as meritamatic tissue.

meristematic tissues are the group of high frequency dividing cells which have high genetic material content and are in G1 phase of cell division they don't go in G0 phase of division and in plant they do not posses plasmodesmata, no xylem(parmnent one) hope this is enough
