Meristematic tissue helps in the overall growth and repair. It is of three types:
1) Apical meristematic tissue.
2) Lateral meristematic tissue.
3) Intercalary meristematic tissue.
Apical meristematic tissue helps in the height growth of the tree.
Lateral meristematic tissue brings growth in the width of the tree.
Intercalary meristematic tissue is present in branches and helps the branches to grow.
