What is mesosome in prokaryotic cell and state it's functions???

Mesosome are the part of prokaryotic cell which help them in respiration.

Mesosomes are invagination of cell membrane present in cytoplasm..It is present in prokaryotic cell because cell doesn't has mitochondria ,So they function for respiration and other functions are DNA replication,cell division and in export of enzymes.

There two forms of mesosomes. Septal mesosome and lateral mesosome But in bacteria septal mesosomes is present
