Metal- A metal is a material (an element, compound, or alloy) that is typically hard, opaque, shiny, and has good electrical and thermal conductivity. Metals are generally malleable — that is, they can be hammered or pressedpermanently out of shape without breaking or cracking — as well as fusible and ductile.Non Metal- Nonmetals have properties opposite those of themetals. The nonmetals are brittle, not malleable or ductile, poor conductors of both heat and electricity, and tend to gain electrons in chemical reactions.[

A metal is a substance which shows various properties like lustre, malleability, ductility, sonority, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, etc.

A non metal lacks all these properties. They are brittle, have a dull colour, are insulators.
