Metallurgy:-The process of profitable extraction of minerals from their ores is known as Metallurgy.

The processes involved in metallurgy are:-

1)Mining of ore:-Generally ores are found deep inside the earth but some may be present only a few metres under earth's surface.Mining is the process to take out the ores from mines.
2)Sizing of ores:-Mines ores are found generally in form of big lumps which are crushed into small pieces and then powdered.
3)Concentration of ore/dressing of ore:-The removal of undesired foreign impurities I. e. gangue from ore is called concentration of ore. Many physical and chemical methods are used for the concentration of ore.
4)Oxidation:-The oxidation of ore is essential step during metallurgical process because the reduction of metal oxides is comparatively easier than the reduction of other compounds of metals (as carbonate, nitrate etc.) and hence, metallic compounds are first converted into their respective oxides and then reduced to metals by the processes such as Calcination and Roasting.

Answer :
Metallurgy is one of the fields of materials science and engineering that studies the physical and chemical behavior of metal elements, intermetallic compounds, and metal alloys called alloys or lacques. Metallurgy is also a metal technology, namely the application of science in the production of metals and engineering of metal components for use on products intended for consumers and manufacturing industries. Metal production involves ore processing activities to extract its metal content, and metal-joining activities, sometimes with non-metallic elements, to produce alloys. Metallurgy differs from metal processing crafts, although technical advances in metal processing depend on the development of metallurgy, as technical advances in medical practice depend on the development of medical science.
