Metals and non metals are two divisions of elements based on their properties.

Metals are hard, have high melting points and boiling points, sonorus, can be made into sheeets(malleability)and wires (ductility), solids. like carbon , aluminium etc.

Non metals are not sonorus , soft , liquids and gases, low melting and boiling points , neither ductile nor malleable . like oxygen, nitrogen etc
