Personification means assuming any non living thing as a living.

Example-: The river took away my bangles. Here river took away is personified because how a river can take away the bangles? But we assumed that the river took my bangles.

Metaphor means a figure of speech which is used to make compression between two things which are alike but have some common features.

Example-: The song used sunshine as a metaphor for joy.
