Metaphor is a figure of speech in which a comparison between two different things is implied, but not clearly started. For example, in a poem BANGLE SELLER... the bangles r considered as " Rainbow tinted circles of light " and " lustrous tokens of radiant lives" .

Hey friend,

Here's your answer,

A metaphor is a kind of comparison and it establishes a total identity between two objects, qualities or actions. It is not indicated using 'like' or 'as'.

E.g. All the world is a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.

This is an extract from Shakespeare's Seven ages. In this poem, the poet compares the world with a stage and the human beings are compared to the players who enact their role and exit.
