What is meter hole and

Explanation:
Since only one dimension is given for the width, we should assume a circular hole with a flat bottom one meter below grade (the level of the ground before the digging started).
Standing in the completed hole, the grade should come to about the waist of an average height adult male. Standing at the center of the hole, the edge of the hole should be just beyond your finger tips when your arms are extended in line with your shoulders.
Around us, the mantra is “call before you dig”. That means, call the utility companies (natural gas, water, cable TV, telephone and electrical companies to mark where they have buried pipes and cables. They will send someone out to plant marker flags and spray paint the lawn above their stuff. Consider moving your hole if the pipes are in the way.
Find out what you are expected to do with the dirt you are going to remove. If the soil has rocks, determine what is to happen with them.
Get a meter measuring stick or tape.
Find a scrap stick to pound into the dirt to mark the desired center of the hole.
Use the meter stick to locate one meter out from the center point. Step on a shovel to score the surface along what would be the circumference. Shift the meter stick and repeat, until the circle of the top of the hole is marked. Some people use a loop of rope between the center stick and around the shovel’s handle, measuring one meter out, to make it easier to score the hole.
The hole is going to remove a bit more than three cubic meters of soil and rocks. Digging the hole manually, plan to keep the right area free of dirt to reach the hole. The place you will be putting the dirt probably won’t hold all of it, thrown shovelful by shovelful out of the hole. You’ll need to plan to move part of it further away, partway through the job so that fresh dirt does not slide back down, into the hole.
I recommend a wide blade heavy hoe-type tool to break up the bottom of the hole and a flat edge shovel with a handle grip to scoop the loose dirt out onto the pile.
Try to work while the area is in the shade.
Start the digging when you can take at least half-again as long as you think it will take to finish. Roots and rocks become the bane of your existence.
