A Meter Bridge is also called as slide wire bridgeand is an instrument that works on the principle of a Wheatstone bridge. A meter bridge is used in finding the unknown resistance of a conductor as that of in a Wheatstone bridge.

It is a practical application of wheatstone bridge and works on the condition of Balanced wheatstone Bridge.
In a slide wire Bridge are alone by of uniform cross section is stretched thought on a wooden board with the help of thick metallic Street. The gap between the strip is further divided into two with the help of another plane and thick strip. The ends of the wires are connected with a source of electricity and Galvanometer with series resistance jockey is it kept connected as shown in the diagram.
