Micelles are form by molecules which have a polar and non-polar sides in a solvent. In a polar solvent such as water, the polar part of the molecule stay outside the micelle and interact with the solvent, while the non-polar part of the molecules interact with themselves forming “cell” walls.
The micelles will capture and make soluble grease in water and can thus clean oil. Detergents are very harmful for the environment it imbalance the aquatic life vastly. It causes the eutrophication of water, degrades the water quality by contamination, declines the coastal plants and it also causes cloudy water phenomenon.
Hope it helps.
