A loudspeaker, a transducer that turns an electrical signal into sound waves, is the functional opposite of a microphone. Since a conventionalspeaker is constructed much like a dynamic microphone (with a diaphragm, coil and magnet), speakerscan actually work "in reverse" as microphones.
