With a view to enhancing enrollment, retention and attendance and simultaneously improving nutritional levels among children, the National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education (NP-NSPE) is running in all blocks of the country. This scheme is popularly known as mid day meal scheme
Mid day meal scheme in its current form has below features :
The calorific value of a mid-day meal at upper primary stage has been fixed at a minimum of 700 calories per child/school day. ( 30 grams of protein,75 grams of vegetables, 7.5 grams of oil and 150 grams of food grains (rice or wheat)
