A mental disorder caused by methyl mercury poisoning, first described in the inhabitants of Minamata Bay, Japan and resulted due to eating fish contaminated with mercury industrial waste. It leads to peripheral sensory loss, tremors, dysarthria, ataxia, and both hearing and visual loss
