Mitochondria is called the power house of the cell which gives free energy to the cell in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) . Number of mitochondria in one cell is 500 to 2000 . It contains various DNA molecules . It was discovered by Kollicker (1865) and Bende ( 1866)
