mitochondria are found in both animal and plant cells. A mitochondrion is a two-walled structure. It have their own genetic system (DNA,RNA) which is from the nuclear genetic material of the cell. They can replicate on their own. Therefore, they are called semi autonomous organelles. Mitochondria provide energy for various metabolic functions of the cell. For this reason, these are called power house of the cell.
