Mitochondria are found in both plants and animals cells.

It is a 2 walled structure.

The outer mitochondrial membrane is smooth.

The inner mitochondrial is folded into finger like projections. These projections are known as cristae.

The space within mitochondria is known as mitochondrial chamber.

The space filling jell like proteinaceous substance is its matrix.

Mitochondria has its own genetic material.

It is known as semi autonomous organelle.

Hi
Mitochondria : They are organelles that act like a digestive system which takes in nutrients , breaks them down , and creates energy rich molecules for the cell .

Mitochondria are organelles or a part of eukaryotic cell. they are in the cytoplasm not in the nucleas . they make most of the cell's supply of ATP , it is a molecule that cell use as source of energy . Their main job to convert energy. They oxidise glucose to provide energy to the cell , the process makes ATP and is called cellular respiration. That means it is also called powerhouse of the cell.
