Mitochondria is a part of cell from which the cells receive entry in the form of ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate). They are called as 'powerhouse' of the cell. In the part of cell, process of respiration takes place:

glucose + oxygen = energy + water + carbondioxide

Through respiration process, energy is generated for that cell.

Mitochondria is a double layered membrane organelle. The inner layer is deeply folded while the inner layer is deeply folded which helps in increasing the ATP generation.

Mitochondria also have their own ribosomes, so they can make their own proteins
