Mitosis is a process where a single cell divides into two identical daughter cells (cell division).
Mitosis divided into 5 phase:-
1- interphase
2- prophase
3-metaphase
4-Anaphase
5-Telophase

Answer:

Explanation:

MITOSIS is the type of cell division in which a cell divides to form two similar daughter cells which are identical to the parent cell.

SIGNIFICANCE....

Mitosis is the phase in which the cell divides in two identical daughter cells.

Mitosis is a continuous process which starts with disappearance of nuclear membere in prophase,

................…....……&…………....….…….….

And and sweet separation of two fully formed cells after cytokinesis

As mitosis is equational division , the chromosome number is maintained constant this ensures equal distribution of nuclear membrane and cytoplasmic content between daughter cells , both qualitative and quantitative.

In this type of cell division DNA is also equally distributed which helps in growth and development of organisms.

Mitosis helps in replacing old and worn out cells.

Mitosis helps in asexual reproduction of organisms and vegetative propagation in plants.

The process of mitosis also maintains the nucleo-cytoplasmic ratio.

Mitosis is very reliable process for preserving the genetic makeup of cells or organisms.

DRAWBACK :-

MITOSIS cannot introduce variation or new combination of existing GENES.
