♠ Mitosis -

♣ Mitosis occurs in somatic cells and in stem cells. It takes place in two stages : 1] Karyokinesis - Division of nucleus. 2] Cytokinesis - Division of cytoplasm.

♣ In Mitosis, chromosome number does not change. Mother cell gives rise to 2 daughter cells.

♠ Meiosis -

♣ In meiosis, Homologous chromosomes undergo crossing over and hence there is genetic recombinations.

♣ Meiosis 2 is similar to mitotic division. The two haploid cells that are produced in meiosis 2 undergoes further division forming four haploid cells.
