mitosis is equational divison and mieosis is reduction division.

In mitosis the no .of chromosomes in parent and progeny cells is the same .

and the meiosis is specialised kind of cell divison that reduces the chromosomes number by half

Answer:

Mitosis is the type of cell division that occurs in non-reproductive cells.

  • Produces exact copies of the parent cell

Meiosis is cell division that occurs in reproductive cell to form gametes.

  • Produces egg and sperm cells with half the genetic material of the parent cells.
  • 23 chromosomes are contained in gametes; this is so that when egg and the sperm undergo fusion, they produce offspring with 46 chromosomes.(diploid no. )
