Answer:

What is mixture?

A mixture is a material made up of two or more different Chemical substance/substances which are not chemically combined. A mixture is the physical combination of two or more substances in which the identities are retained and are mixed in the form of solutions, suspensions and colloids.

Explain the properties of mixture.

There are three general properties of mixtures. First, components of a mixture can be separated from each other. This makes a mixture different from a compound, in that compounds are chemically combined while mixtures are not. For example, a salad is a mixture. Vegetables can easily be separated out from each other and from the rest of the salad. Second, the components of a mixture retain their original properties. If sand and sugar are combined into a mixture, the properties of the individual grains and crystals do not change. They are simply mixed together.

Finally, the components of a mixture are combined in different proportions in different parts of the mixture. This can be seen when we visualize our salad example again. Different parts of the salad will contain variable numbers of ingredients. One area may contain more tomatoes, while another area might contain more croutons. They are not distributed in equal proportions throughout the salad.
