Mode of nutrition is the way by which an organism take its food for survival.

Mode of Nutrition :

It is the method by which the organisms obtains or procure food.

Its is different in different organisms.

All living organisms do not obtain food by same process. Which means that, every organism do not have green pigment called chlorophyll to synthesis food by the process of photosynthesis.

There are two major modes of nutrition -

I. Autotrophic mode of nutrition : It is the mode of nutrition performed by the green plants, same bacteria for manufacturing their own food from inorganic sources like carbon dioxide, water. The organisms are also called autotrophs.

II. Heterotrophic mode of nutrition : The heterotrophs can not synthesis food by their own, but they are depended on the autotrophs for their nutrition.
