Modem is modulator and demodulator together. It perform two way communication- transmitting and receiving. They requests and acknowledge the data transmission simultaneously. Software programming is required for micro-controllers.

Transducer are sensors which convert the sensed energy into a realizable electrical signal. They are one way elements, i.e, they can only transmit the sensed signal and are generally hardwired devices.
