To know the Molecular mass of a compound........u must know the atomic mass of elements
Atomic mass of one carbon=12, one Hydrogen=1 and one Oxygen=16
So here in C₂H₅-OH, 2 carbon, 6 hydrogen and 1 oxygen are present
- Atomic mass of 2 carbon(C)=2×12=24
- Atomic mass of 6 hydrogen(H)=6×1=6
- Atomic mass of oxygen(O)=1×16=16
Hence molecular mass of C₂H₅-OH
=Atomic mass of 2 carbon(C)+Atomic mass of 6 hydrogen(H)+Atomic mass of oxygen(O)
=24+6+16=46
