The moment of Inertia of a rod from any length h from one end of the rod is given by
I = M(L² – 3Lh + 3h²) / 3
Here I = moment of Inertia of rod.
M - mass of the rod = m
L = Length of rod = l
h = distance from axis of rotation one end of rod.
In our case, the rod is moving from axis which is one end of the rod and perpendicular to axis.
Hence h = 0.
Moment of inertia rod end = I = ml²/3
