Rest and motion are relative terms. In simple terms, an object that changes its position is said to be in motion while the opposite action causes an object to be at rest.

In physics, rest and motion are two different states of a body. ... A body is said to be at rest if its position does not change with respect to its surroundings. Whereas, when the position of a body changes with respect to its surroundings, it is said to be in motion.

Hope this helps you ♥️

Rest - a body is said to be at rest, if it does not change its position with respect to its surrounding with time. Motion - a body is said to be at motion, if it changes its position with time
