Motion
When an object changes its position with respect to time and a fixed point it is referred as motion.
Rest
When the body does not changes its position with respect to the surroundings, the body is said to be at rest.

Motion :
If the position of an object changes as time passes, it is said to be in motion.
We see different things in motion — people and vehicles moves on road, trains move on railway tracks, aeroplanes, birds fly, etc.
Rest :
If the position of an object does not change as time passes, it is said to be at rest.
We say that, any object does not come in motion until an external force is applied to it.
