Answer:

Motion along a line or a curve is called translation. Motion that changes the orientation of a body is called rotation. In both cases all points in the body have the same velocity (directed speed) and the same acceleration (time rate of change of velocity). The most general kind of motion combines both translation and rotation.

➼ In simple words, the movement of a body or an object is called as motion.

➼ A common characteristic of all the moving bodies is that they change their position with respect to time.

➼ We can also define motion as:-

A body is said to be in motion when its position changes continuously with respect to a stationary object taken as a reference point.

➼ Eg. When the position of a car changes continuously with respect to stationery objects like houses, building, statues, trees, etc., we say that the car is moving or that the car is in motion.

➼ There are two types of motion :-

1) Uniform motion

2) Non- uniform motion

➼ A body has a uniform motion if it travels equal distance is equal intervals of time, no matter how small these time intervals may be.

➼ A body has a non- uniform motivated if it travels unequal distance in equal intervals of time.
