What is MTP and that process

MTP is Medical Termination of Pregnancy. It also called induced abortion. It is the medical way of getting rid of unwanted pregnancy. Any qualified gynecologist can perform MTP. Any MBBS Doctor, who has obtained training in MTP, is allowed to perform this procedure.

MTP (medical termination of pregnancy) before the foetus becomes viable. MTP is comparatively safe up to 12 weeks (first trimester) of pregnancy. It becomes more risky after the first trimester period of pregnancy as the foetus becomes intimately associated with maternal tissues.

Significance of MTP :-

• it help in get rid of unwanted pregnancies and such pregnancies which maybe harmful to mother or to the foetus or both.

• MTP also plays a significant role in decreasing the human population. But MTP is being misused to abort even the normal female foetuses almost all over India and some other countries.
