well in case of thick mirrors a single ray of light is reflected by the top layer of the mirror.....some of it get refracted and pass on to the next layer.... there some of it undergoes reflection and some of it undergoes refraction and goes on to the next layer.... this process continues and a number of reflected rays are obtained for a single incident ray...
This Phenomenon Is Called Multiple Reflection.
