Some points on muscular tissue are as follows:-

1. Muscle tissue is originated from the mesodermal layer, except in iris and in the ciliary muscles of the eye.

2. About ,40-50 % of the body weight of an adult consists of muscles.

3. The study of muscles is known as myology.It is also known as sarcology .

4. There are some special properties of muscles which includes elasticity (the ability to regain its shape ),excitability (responds to stimuli),Extensibility (can strech or increase the length) and contractility (the ability to shorten in length).
