Heya!!
Mylein is an insulating layer or sheath that forms around nerves including those in the brain and spinal cord .The myelin sheath has a number of function in the Nervous System. The main function of myelin sheath is to protect the nerves from other electrical impulses ,and speeding the time it takes for a nerve to transverse an axon.
Have a nice day dear☺

Hiya!!
Myelin is a lipid-rich substance that surrounds the axon of some nerve cells, forming an electrically insulating layer. It is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It is produced by specialized glial cells through extension of their cellular processes......
The main purpose of a myelin sheath is to increase the speed at which impulses propagate along the myelinated fiber.
Hope this answer helps you
