n in (4n+2)π is 0 or any positive integer.

keerthika1998lekha: any number . 0,1,2........
Utsavsterbon: for benzene it is 1
Utsavsterbon: how?
keerthika1998lekha: just a min
keerthika1998lekha: benzene has 6 pi electrons.so 4n+2=6 , 4n = 4 , n=1.this is how u get n=1
Utsavsterbon: nice...but how does it decide that the compound is aliphatic???
keerthika1998lekha: in simple way to say..aliphatic compound are connected in a straight line whereas aromatic are in the form of circle
tanishqsingh: it decides aeromatic , i think
keerthika1998lekha: if compounds are connected in straight lines it denotes aliphatic.....
keerthika1998lekha: tysm

In the comment bar, you had said that, it is for benzene, right!
Benzene has three C-C double bonds, which mean that we have 3 pairs of π electrons = 6 π electrons = a 4n+2 number where n=1.
Hope this will help you.
