Nascent oxygen is the oxygen which hasn’t bonded covalently with another oxygen atom to form O2.

It is written in square brackets-[O].

Nascent oxygen is formed when ozone gas gets reduced because of presence of UV rays -O3- O2 + [0]

THIS nascent oxygen then quickly gets bonded with another oxygen atom to form O2 MOLECULE AGAIN.

We can also say that nascent oxygen is a single oxygen atom which has not bonded with another oxygen atom.

I hope that you may get help from my answer.

The term nascent oxygen refers to oxygen that has just been made, presumably in a chemical reaction. Some people interpret this to mean O2 , which is made in many reactions, while others believe it to be a monatomic oxygen radical, which is far more reactive.
