National party:

A national party is one which is recognised in four or more States .For winning recognition in states it is required to fulfill one of the following conditions :

1.it should have been engaged in political activity consecutively for a period of 5 years .

2 it should have polled not less than 4% of votes polled at the last General Elections .

Regional party.

Regional party crave for more powers for their state and ask for more autonomy
