Example: When an object is thrown upwards,the force of gravity is in downward direction whereas displacement acts in upward direction.

Two examples:

1)In pulling a box of books along a rough floor at constant velocity, I do positive work on the box, that is I put energy into the system.

2)Work was done the gravity on a rocket going perpendicular upwards.
