Nephrons are the structural and functional units of kidney

Main function of nephrons:

Nephrons regulate the concentration of water and salt in blood.

Nephrons regulate the blood by filtering the blood .

Nephrons reabsorbs what is needed and rest excretes as urine.

Nephron is the basic structrual and functional unit of kidney.

Function:(it includes 3 main steps)

1.Filtration: It takes place in Bowman's capsule from the capillaries to the nephron's.The filtrate passes onto the tubularvpaet of the nephron's. This filtrate contains glucose, amino acids, urea, uric acid, salts and a major amount of water.

2.Reabsorption: As the filtrate flows along the tubule useful substances such as glucose, amino acids, salts and water are selectively reabsorbed into the blood by capillaries surrounding the nephron's tubule.

3.Tubular Secretion: The filtrate which remains after reabsorption is called urine. Urine is collected from nephrons by the collecting duct to carry it to ureter.
