What is net sown area ? Why does the pattern of net sown area it vary in different place in India ?

3.38% of the total land is used for grazing, while the remaining lands are fallow and waste lands. In some of these states, the proportion of net sown is low because they are covered by dense tropical forests. The fertility of the soil is not suitable for cultivation.
