here is ur answer...
the basic structural and functional unit of nervous system is called neuron.
a neuron has three components:-
1. cyton- it is also called cell body. it has well defined nucleus. it has cytoplasm with neurofibrils and Nissl's Granules.
2. Dendrites - it is a short trade like a structure arising from cyton. it receives impulse from outside and pass to cyton.
3. axon- alone thread like structure arising from third one is called axon. it conduct impulse away from cyton.
